Germ Freaks Club Survival Kit
Clorox Disinfecting Wipes To Go Pack – This convenient resealable plastic package can be stored in purse or carried in back pocket. These pre-moistened wipes help disinfect toilet seats, hands, car messes, office desk, or students desk. The advertising propaganda says that it kills 99.9% of germs, including viruses that cause colds and the flu. Unfortunately, not all germs and viruses are created equal, thus this advertising claim applies to only some types of germs and viruses. My mom who was a nurse for 44 years, believe in bleach as the best preventative cleaning solution, but also used Ammonia, Alcohol-based sanitizers, Vinegar, and another favorite but dangerous chemical to use, Hydrogen peroxide. I still can hear my mom complain, “The worst thing ever to happen in the Hospital was when they stopped using Bleach.”
To-Go Toilet Seat Covers – The clear plastic reclosable case that protects the seat covers from dropping on the restroom floor and keeps them dry, clean and fresh. These toilet seat covers are not plastic lined, but are paper only, so they’re not suitable for moist surfaces, but they are flush-able. If the seat is moist, you should wipe it dry with toilet paper first, or double-up the seat covers.
Word of caution: Different brands will tell you that they provide a germ-free protective barrier against cross-infection, this is marketing propaganda, do NOT believe this. Most of these products are not plastic lined, or they are too thin, or they have microscopic tears in the paper cover.
Germ Freaks Club Tip: The top of toilet seats have around 700 pathogens per square inch compared to the toilet flush handle which has over 30,000 to 50,000 pathogens per square inch. An office desk also has over 20,000 pathogens per square inch. As the old germ freaks joke goes, “It’s better to eat your Turkey sandwich on top of the toilet seat instead of on your office desk.” Also, remember there is no disease you can catch from sitting on a toilet seat unless you have a cut or skin abrasion on your butt cheeks.
Alcohol-based Hand Sanitizer – When buying a Hand Sanitizer make sure that it is at least 60% Ethyl Alcohol, Hospitals use 70%. World Health Organization guidelines on hand hygiene in health care.
Disposable Nitrite Gloves – Nitrite gloves are a 100% synthetic rubber which provides superior protection and resistance to solvents and hazardous chemicals which can be absorbed by the skin and cause havoc with your central nervous system, cause narcosis (nausea, fatigue, loss of concentration, and dizziness), which can lead to accidents or mistakes. If this isn’t bad enough it also can cause brain damage.
Charmin To-Go Toilet Tissue – This travel size clear plastic container case contains 55 sheets of one-ply toilet paper and doubles as a protective cover for storage in your purse, auto glove box, and backpack. If you drop it on the restroom floor, it will protect the toilet tissues inside. Unfortunately, the small portable size means that you will only have enough tissues for 3 to 4 trips to the restroom depending on how many tissues you use. Indispensable travel item in certain parts of the world that do not use toilet paper, and remember if you do not have this item, then wipe your ass with your left hand. It is taboo to shake hands with your left hand in a lot of foreign countries. These are very handy to have.
